Net-O2 ATTEST announces IPv6 multicast Test Suites

August 16, 2007 -- Net-O2 Technologies announces immediate availability of conformance test suites for Protocol Independent Multicast (PIM) in IPv6 networks. ATTEST PIM-DMv6 (Dense Mode for IPv6 networks) test suite performs compliance verification for IETF RFC 3973. ATTEST PIM-SMv6 (Spare Mode for IPv6 networks) test suite performs compliance verification for IETF RFC 4601 and IETF draft_ietf_pim_bsr_09.txt. The ATTEST PIM-SMv6 and PIM-DMv6 test suites run on the ATTEST 3.x test framework.
ATTEST PIM-SMv6 can be used to verify the generation and handling of Hello, Assert, Join, Prune PIM messages from neighboring PIMv6 Routers. It can also be used to verify the handling of Bootstrap, Candidate-RP Advertisement, Register and Register stop messages. Test cases verify (S,G), (*,G) and (S,G,Rpt) upstream and downstream Finite state machine implementations, In addition it verifies the PIM-SM router as ASSERT Winner/Loser, Designated router, Rendezvous Point and Boot strap router.
ATTEST PIM-DMv6 can be used to verify the generation and handling of valid and invalid Hello, Assert, Join, Prune, State Refresh, Graft, Graft-Ack PIM messages from neighboring PIMv6 Routers. It can be used to verify (S,G), upstream and downstream Finite state machine implementations. Verification of PIM-DM router as both ASSERT Winner and Loser, Multicast Listener interoperability for MLDv1/v2 listeners are included.
Other Layer 3 IPv6 protocol test suites from Net-O2 Technologies for Gigabit Switches include Multicast Listener Discovery (MLD) for Router and Listener implementation, IPv6 Basic, IPv6 Advanced and IPv6 Tunnel.
