The Bidirectional Forwarding Detection (BFD) protocol enables rapid detection of failures in the path between two adjacent routers, necessary to provide support for time-critical applications over public networks.
The Net-O2 ATTEST BFD Test suite for IPv4 verifies the Bidirectional Forwarding Detection protocol as defined by draft-ietf-bfd-base-04.txt, draft-ietf-bfd-v4v6-1hop-04.txt and draft-ietf-bfd-mib-02.txt. Test cases perform conformance testing for session handling, echo packet handling, demand mode verification, authentication support, timer handling, state machine changes and management configuration support. Frame format checks and backward compatibility checks are also performed.
Together with other Test Suites like Advanced and Tunelling IPv6, IPv4, OSPF, IGMP and PIM, Net-O2 provides one of the most comprehensive solutions for Layer-3 conformance testing. Layer-2 Switch Test Suites, such as MSTP, RSTP, STP and VLAN, are also available.
