Net-O₂ ATTEST-CTS MEF 21

Net-O₂ ATTEST-CTS MEF 21 protocol conformance test suite supports quick verification for MEF 21 certification requirements for Carrier Ethernet network equipment saving valuable time and cost. Usage of the ATTEST test suites early can also ensure interoperability, compliance to the OAM standards required in the Carrier Ethernet network deployments.

ATTEST MEF 21 is based on the Iometrix MEF 21 Test Plan and verifies the Link OAM protocol and the management support requirements in service provider networking (UNI-N) devices as well as in customer edge (UNI-C) devices.

ATTEST-CTS MEF 21 UNI-N and UNI-C test suites verify transmission and reception of OAM PDUs, check responses to critical events, validate OAM information PDUS with local/remote information TLVs, measure timing considerations for OAM remote loopback, trigger the devices to generate the different OAM PDUs and processes generated PDUs for the different formats and values.

The Net-O₂ ATTEST-CTS Y.1731 test suite verifies the Y.1731 capabilities of end points and intermediate points as defined by ITU. ATTEST Y.1731 test cases provide verification of CFM messages and configuration of Carrier Ethernet switches.

Y.1731 as defined by the ITU-T Recommendation: OAM functions and mechanisms for Ethernet based networks May 2006, is required for implementation of Ethernet Operations, Administration and Maintenance (E-OAM) functions and mechanisms in carrier networks.

With Y.1731, Service Providers can perform both fault management and monitor the performance of the services in the Eth layer. One can gain end-to-end diagnostic capabilities essential for rapidly detecting and locating faults on their networks and also ensure the performance as per the service level agreements, when providing reliable delivery of delay-sensitive triple-play services over Ethernet based carrier networks.

ATTEST-CTS Y.1731 test suite provides Comprehensive tests for Service OAM (ITU-T Y.1731) functionality. It verifies

•  Functionality support in both Maintenance End Points (MEPs) as well as Maintenance Intermediate Points (MIPs).

•  Device deployment scenarios at at all three levels - Customer domain, Service provide domain and Operator domain.

•  End point configuration and support for both Up as well as Down Maintenance End Points.

•  PDU generation and handling of received PDUs for all the protocol functionality such as Continuity check (ETH-CC),  Loopback (ETH-LB) and Link trace (ETH-LT) functions.

•  Remote defect indication (ETH-RDI), Test (ETH-TEST) and OAM performance functions.

•  Independent MEG Level support
