Net-O2 ATTEST Carrier Ethernet testing solutions

Net-O2 ATTEST Carrier Ethernet test solutions provide automated tests for Provider Edge devices and Customer Premise Equipments (CPE) supporting Carrier Ethernet services.

Net-O2 ATTEST-XP CFM and EFM-OAM test suites provide Comprehensive verification for Service OAM (CFM - IEEE 802.1ag) and Link OAM (EFM-OAM - IEEE 802.3ah) functionality.

Net-O2 ATTEST-XP CFM test suite verifies:

  • Both Maintenance End Points (MEPs) and Maintenance Intermediate Points (MIPs)

  • All 3 Levels of deployment - Customer, Service provider and Operator domains

  • Up and Down Maintenance End Points

  • Aggregated and non-aggregated links

  • PDU generation / reception for Connectivity Management, Loopback Control, Link Trace etc.

  • Boundary condition verification such as max. device interfaces, maintenance domain levels, etc., and

  • Illegal and malformed PDUs

ATTEST-XP EFM-OAM test suite verifies:

  • Active and Passive peer configurations

  • Variable request messages, loopback control messages from an active peer and a passive

  • Loopback verification for session establishment and termination for session discovery interruption

  • Robustness verification for illegal and malformed PDUs

  • Boundary conditions such as neighbor discovery over maximum device interfaces etc.

  • Reception of loop back control messages for max. interfaces and generation of loop back for max. interfaces

Net-O2 ATTEST-CTS Conformance Test Suites for CFM (802.1ag), Y.1731 (ITU-T Y.1731), EFM-OAM (802.3ah) and Provider Bridges (802.1AD) provide a wide range of tests for Carrier Ethernet conformance verification thereby ensuring better interoperability with other vendor implementations.

All ATTEST test suites are based on Net-O2 ATTEST Test Framework - a powerful environment that makes testing and debugging faster and easier.

Net-O2 ATTEST Data Center testing solutions

Ethernet becoming ubiquitous, today we have an emergence of a new breed of Layer2/3 switches which are intended to be situated at the "top of rack" for server aggregation at the edge of the data center. These new data center switches supporting high density of ports provide the necessary speed for handling the data.

These switches typically support Gigabit interfaces towards the servers and 10Gigabit in the uplinks for aggregated traffic or the switch could have all its ports supporting 10Gigabit rates. The interface types could be copper or optical. Their ability to handle all the incoming traffic and forward them suitably based on Layer 2 and Layer 3 information is a key requirement. The secured access support is provided with suitable Access Control Lists (ACLs) and aggregated data handling towards the servers is done with the help of Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP). Redundancy in provided using Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol and routing protocols such as OSPF, BGP bring in the ability to route the packet at Layer 3 level.

Net-O2 ATTEST-XP test suites are available for comprehensive verification of Layer 2 functionality such as LACP, Spanning tree, IGMP Snooping, IPv4 routing functionality such as OSPFv2, VRRP and IPv6 routing functionality such as OSPFv3.

Net-O2 ATTEST-XP LACP test suite verify link aggregation (LACP - IEEE 802.3, Clause 43) functionality and provide comprehensive verification for:

  • Protocol functionality

  • Scalability support

  • Aggregation of links for max links support and detachment of the links

  • Aggregated and non-aggregated links

  • Data forwarding for aggregated links and disabled links

  • Dynamic VLAN membership formation for the aggregated links

  • Verification of tagged data forwarding over the aggregated ports

Net-O2 ATTEST-XP RSTP test suite verifies:

  • Port states and transitions

  • Forwarding of data on allowed and blocked ports

  • Port roles and transitions

  • Aggregated links and individual links

  • Root guard, BPDU filtering etc.

Net-O2 ATTEST-XP OSPF ATTEST-XP IPv4 and IPv6 test suites provide comprehensive verification of IP routing functionality including

  • Topology change and Route propagation

  • Dynamic Routes (OSPF, RIP) and Static Routes, route redistribution

  • OSPF ABR, ASBR, NSSA-ASBR

  • Multi-assess links, Virtual links

  • RIP - Split horizon, Poison reverse

  • VRRP - Master, Backup routers

In addition, the following Net-O2 ATTEST-CTS Conformance Test Suites

Layer 2 bridging:  LACP, RSTP, MSTP, VLAN, IGMP Snooping, etc.

IPv4:  IPv4 forwarding, RIP, OSPF, IGMPv3, PIM-SM/DM, DHCP Relay etc., and

IPv4:  IPv6 Basic, IPv6 Advanced, IPv6 tunnels, OSPFv3, MLD, PIM-SM/DM, BGP+, ISISv6 etc.

provide a wide range of Layer 2 and IP conformance test suites, thus ensuring better interoperability with other vendor implementations.

Net-O2 ATTEST Network Security testing solutions

Computer networks are increasingly becoming targets of security threats from both within and without. Network Security is thus a primary aspect of any network deployment today.

Net-O2 ATTEST-XP ACLs provides Comprehensive tests for verifying the access control support in a L2/L3 device. Test cases verify the system behavior for

  • Access parameters based on IP related parameters or MAC related parameters

  • ACLs are associated with aggregated links and individual links

  • Access verification using both Tagged data packets and Untagged data packets

Net-O2 ATTEST-XP DOS provides Comprehensive tests for verifying mitigation of Denial of Service attacks. The automated ATTEST-XP DOS test cases are integrated with third party hardware based packet generators and thus the attack data is generated at wire speed data rates. Test cases verify the system behavior when it is made to face the following types of attacks:

  • ARP Flooding

  • Gratuitous ARP Flooding

  • Telnet packets based Land attack

  • HTTP packets based Land attack

  • Ping flood attack

  • Smurf attack

  • Telnet packets based SYN flood attack

  • HTTP packets based SYN flood attack
