Y.1731 as defined by the ITU-T Recommendation: OAM functions and mechanisms for Ethernet based networks May 2006, is required for implementation of Ethernet Operations, Administration and Maintenance (E-OAM) functions and mechanisms in carrier networks.
With Y.1731, Service Providers can perform both fault management and monitor the performance of the services in the Eth layer. One can gain end-to-end diagnostic capabilities essential for rapidly detecting and locating faults on their networks and also ensure the performance as per the service level agreements, when providing reliable delivery of delay-sensitive triple-play services over Ethernet based carrier networks.
The Net-O2 ATTEST Y.1731 test suite verifies the Y.1731 capabilities of end points and intermediate points as defined by ITU. ATTEST Y.1731 test cases provide verification of CFM messages and configuration of Carrier Ethernet switches.
Together with other test suites such as CFM, EFM-OAM, VLAN, RSTP, MSTP and LACP, Net-O2 provides a comprehensive solution for conformance testing of Carrier Ethernet switches.
